Ananda Sastralaya - Matugama

There are only two “Sastralayas” in Sri lanaka. One is Kotte and Other One is at Matugama. During the second world war ,Kotte Ananda Sastralaya was devoted to a Army camp .It was with the Initiative of Dr. E.W.Adhikaram ,Mtugama Ananda Sastralaya was inaugurated as a brunch of Kotte Ananda Sastralaya.

In 1942 February 22 the school state with eleven students

In Matugama”Sudarshanaramaya” temple at the beginning the management of the school was done by Prominent Parliamentarian Mr. Daya . T .Pasqual

All the students of Ananda Sastralaya are divided into four houses. Those are:

• Anura
• Vijitha
• Tissa
• Rohana

Big Match

The annual Cricket match is played with St Mary's College Matugama.It is played every February or March

Principal's Message

Ananda Sastralaya is one of the leading School in matugama which was started in 1942 at the during of second world war as a part of the kotte Ananda Sastralaya . The founder was Mr. Daya T Pasquel.Now there are more 2300 student are studding form grade 1-13 and A/L classes are conducting in A/L streams Science, Moths, Arts, Commerce. WE able to get the 1 ^st Place form zonal sport meet also got more achievement at provincial level and all island level.

There are extra curricular activities such as scout cadet’s cricket etc .In 2008 8 scouts were selected as the presidential scouts.Examination result is very satisfactory. 48 student got through last grade 5 scholarship exam and 75% of student got through G.C.E O/L more than 30 student were selected to universities .

Here now this school has been selected as an isuru school under the governments top level school development programmer. This school is to be developed as a secondary high school.More parents, Old boy’s well wishers extend their fullest co-operation to develop this school.
